XENIA, TUESDAY, NATASHA and MINNESOTA take up their places DSR. XENIA has the wicker basket. While XENIA is not looking, JENNA appears at the Tower door with a flower pot, which she puts on the floor. With a quick glance to make sure that XENIA has not seen her, she crosses SL and caresses JERRY before exiting SL. JERRY reaches out to touch her, but she has gone. He walks DS and steps down to the floor of the auditorium.

JERRY Ready everyone. Cue Christmas.

CHRISTMAS, dressed as SEEDY SID, enters SL. He yawns, and looks at his wristwatch before carefully lying down on the floor, making a noise as he does so. The GIRLS are startled by the noise.

TUESDAY {in very bored voice} What was that?

MINNESOTA {in very bored voice} Oh no! It must be old Winters. If we’re caught I’ll get another beating!

NATASHA {in very bored voice} Quick! Let’s hide around the corner.

The GIRLS hide even more DSR, but XENIA creeps round to the tower to investigate the noise.

XENIA {in very bored voice} I say, you chaps! It’s not Miss Wintergreen, it’s a burglar!

TUESDAY {in very bored voice} A burglar!

MINNESOTA Let me see!

MINNESOTA rushes over and stabs CHRISTMAS in the arm with a picnic knife. She then drags him into a sitting position and starts to fuss over him as a mother might do with a small child.

CHRISTMAS Aargh!

JERRY What on earth are you playing at, woman? That’s not in the script!

MINNESOTA But poor Chrissy-Wissy’s hurt himself, Jerry. Can’t you see? Look!
